The Stone Castle Salutes our Women Veterans
This week The Stone Castle Hotel & Conference Center has been proud to host two events to celebrate Veterans Week in Branson. The first was the Korean War Mini Reunion which was held Tuesday afternoon and hosted approximately 250 Korean War veterans. Wednesday afternoon saw the Women Veterans being honored with a memorial service, rose petal ceremony, luncheon, and entertainment.
The picture to the left shows aerial violinist Janice Martin, former service member, playing the National Anthem beautifully on her violin. Guest speakers included Major (Retired) Vicki Lynn Jones, a decorated US Army veteran, who was the first female helicopter pilot in the Oklahoma Army National Guard and the first Native American female helicopter pilot in both the Oklahoma Army National Guard and the U.S. Army. Also in attendance was a World War II woman veteran who is currently 99 years old. There were many other women veterans in attendance; what an honor for the hotel to have such courageous women in its presence.
Door prizes were given away and a delicious lunch was shared by all in attendance. A wonderful time was had by all, as all witnessed a WWII woman veteran, all the way to a lady who has been to Iraq and is still on active duty. What an honor!
Thank you, women veterans, for your great sacrifices.
